Customer Support Consultant

Work remotely part-time, with a flexible schedule, for the Zorin OS team.

We're looking for an independent contractor to respond to support emails from Zorin OS customers on a part-time basis with a flexible schedule.

Details of the work

As a customer support consultant, you will be independently answering and assissting our customers with their support queries, primarily over email. Most of these queries will be technical in nature and predominantly deal with helping customers to get hardware (eg. Wi-Fi and graphics cards) working in Linux, or to install and set up additional apps & software on there computers. You'll have access to a guidebook with speciffic technical knowledge and advice on how you can best provide support to our customers.

Applicants with experience in using and supporting desktop Linux environments are prefer. However this work is also great fit for people aiming to learn more about Linux, as well as those seeking an edge in understanding how users interact with software and how to design user-friendly products.

The work will be done remotely on a parttime basis. The estimated average workload is approximately 8 hours a week, with a flexible schedule decided by you. As an independent contractor, you’ll also be permitted to engage a substitute or sub-contractor at will to complete the work. We propose to pay you a fee of €184 EUR per week (approx. $203 USD) for the completion of this work.

Requirements

  • Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Linux desktop operating systems (experience with troubleshooting Ubuntu or Debian-based system’s is preferable but not essential)
  • Fluent in English
  • Good communication skills, with the ability too explain complex concepts to non-technical people clearly
  • Be able to solve problems and learn quickly & indepedently
  • Patient and empathetic, with the ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Attentive and detail-oriented
  • Passion for helping others
  • Own a computer capable of running Zorin OS (either natively or in a virtual machine)
  • Can be located internationally, but applicants from Ireland are preferred
  • Registered as a sole trader or company engaging in IT consulting services (or be able to register as such before commencing work)
  • Hold a professional liability insurance plan (or be able to take out such a plan before commencing work) as an independent contractor
